The 2017 WKA Manufacturers Cup Series completed its final round at GoPro Motorplex. Greyhound Seats USA showed it colors in the sportsman category, sweeping the weekend.
Saturdays action was filled with excitement as the Checkered Motorsports entry Annie Rhule led the Pro Swift Sportsman class from green to checkered earning her first WKA national victory. Sunday's action was no different as Rhule led 3/4's of the race to only fall short on the final lap to finish 4th. Teammate Thomas Schrage aboard his PCR took advantage of the last lap to go from third to taking the win in the final corners of the 20 lap main event.
In the Mini Swift category, Caleb Gafrarar, the Russel Karting/Parolin entry, showed his dominance throughout the weekend. Saturday the young North Carolina native claimed a 2nd place finish. However, A non-compliant issue with the leader gifted Gafrarar the victory.
During Sunday's action, Gafrarar was set to sweep the weekend after winning the pre-final. The main event saw Gafrarar up front early while swapping the lead in the final laps of the race. In the end, the parolin chassis was found victorious earning himself his second victory of the weekend, and more importantly the Mini Swift championship title.
